We need more layups, another puzzle for scientists, and the political bent of killers...

Braves fall to 0-5 in the MVC, not good. But there are good points...Andrew Warren's scoring and FT shooting. AW's scoring goes up to 19.6 ppg.
But note these stats....
22-24 on FT, 9-16 on 3-pointers, but only 14-34 from 2-point range...we need to stop settling for off balance jumpers and start pounding the ball into the paint and get layups!
Just do the math for UNI -- they were 10-29 on 3-pt, but 15-22 on 2-pt shots...



Here's a dilemma to scientists....blue stars........
Some stars burn very hot and are labelled as blue stars. Blus stars make up about 1% of all stars, but they burn very hot and they burn out very fast. It is said by the experts that they will burn all their fuel in a million or two years as compared to the billions of years that most other stars take to burn up their fuel.

But here's the problem...blue stars burn very bright so a disproportionately large number of the stars we can see are blue stars -- because they're brighter. For example, all three stars in Orion's belt are all bright blue stars.
And if they burn up in a few million years, then they must be getting replaced all the time, as the experts also say the universe is 14 billion years old.

But just do the math...
The experts say there's 2X10 to the 23rd power stars, and if 1% are blue stars then there's 2X10 to the 21st power (2,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 or two billion trillion) blue stars. If each burns out and gets replaced every few million years, then -- again -- just do the math...and this means 10 to the 14th or 10 to the 15th of these BLUE stars must be "remanufactured" every single YEAR -- or they'd all be long gone by now!!

If they aren't constantly being remanufactured, then in the billions of years the universe has existed (according to them) then they'd all be long, long gone.
But since there's still so many of them, they must be constantly remanufactured...
and if 10 to the 14th power of them are being made every year -- and since they are so bright that they are proportionately more visible here on earth -- then the simple conclusion is ....
that new ones should be appearing all the time.

DOZENS of new ones should pop into view every single day!! DOZENS!!
And yet, as any amateur astronomer will tell you, the sudden appearance of a totally NEW star is really quite a RARE event!!
The math says it is more than one trillionth as rare as it ought to be!!
There should be several hundred trillion new blue stars every year to keep up with the known pace of their decay -- or burning out.

So -- How come it's not happening?? What's going on?? The usual explanation is that they don't know and that some weird and unexplained force (some cite dark matter) is responsible.....
but this is voodoo science!! The other explanation is that just maybe the universe is NOT all that old...hmmm....you decide......

Another horrible, senseless killing and shooting in the news....
But this one seems to be accompanied by some really weird and inappropriate remarks by some to demonize their political rivals.
Almost all killers who have a political agenda....turn out to be way on the left...
it's been true since Bill Ayres, Angela Davis, and the Black Panthers in the 1960's and it's still true now.
Killers like Timothy McVeigh and Ruby Ridge's Randy Weaver are really quite rare when compared to the leftist types, by at least a ratio of 10-or-20-to 1!!

Just look at the past few examples...
Jared Loughner clearly had no ties to far right extremists, and instead, as noted in yesterday's blog, was decribed by those who knew him as radical liberal, pot smoking, anti-government....he was even described as a 9/11 Conspiracy fanatic...who actually expressed that he "wanted to be a woman"...(seriously)!

He had followed and even stalked Representative Giffords for over 3 years -- long, long before Sarah Palin was even on the map.
Then we had the recent Florida school board shooter, Clay Duke, who was immersed in a fantasy of liberal anti-government comic books - but who also quoted socialist literature.
Joseph Stack - the guy who flew his airplane into the IRS building in Austin, TX left behind an anti-government, anti-capitalist manifesto that cited and praised communism as the best form of government.
James Lee and many of his ilk, are environmentalist wackos/terrorists who are attacking, bombing, and killing anyone who disagrees with their leftist agenda.
But you can go back to President Reagan's shooter, John Hinckley, who worshipped and obsessed over Jodie Foster and drew his plans from the movie "Taxi Driver" in which a character played by Robert De Niro attempted to assassinate the president...and even other mass murderers like Gacy & Dahmer...their politics all leaned left - generally FAR LEFT.
And you could on and on forever from Patty Hearst to the one Nancy Pelosi is so fond of bringing up -- the murder of Harvey Milk & Mayor Moscone in San Francisco, which as we all know was NOT due to the "rhetoric" on talk radio or the tone of conversation coming from news channels...but instead caused by bitter liberal political rivalry and jealously.
So if we are going to blame anyone for these killers who have political connections, then we need to stop Hollywood from making movies, and round up all the loud mouth radicals who are spouting their anti-government agenda.
Most "political" killers are motivated by the entitlement mindset -- the concept that if you don't have what you want or if the government isn't the way you want it -- then you are free to go take action into your own hands...power to the people!
Oddly -- this "power to the people"

Finally -- if you don't want to believe me, then just read what the people who knew Jared Loughner said about him. "Left wing", "radical", "pot smoking"...what this all shows is the depth to which some on the left will go to attack anyone they see as opponents....especially conservative talk radio and Fox. They commandeer any event or occasion even if it is irrelevant to their cause. It is abominable that they would use this tragedy to score political points.

Anyone who believes what the wacko Pima County sherrif says needs only to look at this...

-the guy first says flatly that Loughner acted alone and jumps to conclusions by saying so right away...
"Sheriff says suspect in attack on Arizona congresswoman acted alone"

-then he reverses himself and says that Loughner had an accomplice...
"Loughner May Have Had An Accomplice"
"Arizona Sheriff claims Loughner accomplice is white male in 50s"
"Sheriff 'Not Convinced' Loughner Acted Alone"

-then he reverses himself again..
"Sheriff says gunman acted alone"


One final thought -- recall that the Florida school board shooter, Clay Duke, did not kill anyone but instead was killed by an armed security guard who was present and who stoppped Duke before he could kill anyone.
Can we not learn from this? I believe what we need is ARMED SECURITY GUARDS who would be present at any or every event where any high level government personnel are present...such as school board meetings, town halls, and the kind of event Rep. Giffords was at. After all, she had several of her own employees there, her staffers....if just ONE armed security officer were there near or next to Rep. Giffords, then I believe this would not and could not have happened.
