BU goes to 0-2 with home loss to Shockers, and does anyone believe this fairy tale about the WNBA?

BU held even for one half then depth and size in the paint made the difference. Andrew Warren again showed he is the best player in the league.

Many other top scorers in the Valley had off days...
Greg Echenique barely played (some foul trouble & had just 2 pts/zero rebs
Rayvonte Rice was 2-11
Dwayne Lathan was just 2-7 and had 8 pts
Aaron Carter was 0-4 from 3-pt and had just 5 pts
Colt Ryan was just 3-10 and had 15 pts
Kyle Weems 4-11, 13 pts
Austin Hill, who was ISU's top scorer but now drops to 2nd in the team, was 0-2, scoreless
Murry had just 6
Seck had just 5 with 2 rebs
In fact, the league's TOP 6 individual scorers all had under their averages, except Andrew Warren --
whose average went up to 19.4 ppg, almost 2 and a half points better than the next guy.



Women's basketball is in the news...and I have enjoyed watching some women's games...and my own daughters have played basketball, so my only peeve with the women's game is the lying and dishonesty and the ridiculous bullying of it's proponents to try to force me to think they are every bit as good as the men's game!

But the biggest bragging point of her career, apparently is this...
She brags that during her tenure, a WNBA team actually turned a profit for the first time!
One time in all those years and all those teams, many of which have folded...

The WNBA has been in operation since 1997, and is now in it's 14th year. Supposedly, this past year, the Connecticut Sun became the first franchise to turn a profit! If any other sports league managed to lose money for every one of it's owners for 14 years, it would have folded long, long ago.
But here is how the WNBA has managed to stay alive and even claim to have a team turn a profit...they get money from the NBA -- money they would never have a prayer of getting on their own or by their own merits.

But the claim that they are the first to turn a profit so far is dishonest...for several reasons....
The Connecticut Sun has only been profitable because it is owned by the Mohegan Indian Tribe and get tremendous tax breaks at the detriment of all the other Connecticut taxpayers!
They play their games in the Moheigan Sun Arena which is also a tax free arena that draws gamblers into their casino.

And here is another really interesting fact about the Connecticut Sun, the only team ever to ever claim to have turned a profit for any year-

Note that the CEO is a man, the CFO is a man, the vice president and general manager is a man, the head coach is a man, the top assistant coach is a man, and only the second assistant coach is a woman. The trainer, and just about everyone else of importance involved with the team are men...hmmm....
Just as a sidelight ... of the 14 years the WNBA has existed, 13 of those years the title has been won by a team coached by a man! 13 out of 14 years! Why aren't the women complaining about that?-

Another thing that helps the Connecticut Sun make money -- they do something none of the NBA teams stopp to doing...
They peddle corporate sponsorships to advertise on their jerseys!
They do not even have the team name on the front of their jerseys, but just the name of the sponsor..

BUT -- I challenge this claim because no WNBA is really making a profit or succeeding on its own...this is all total BS and lies!!

Just because they say they did doesn't mean it is true...
First -- they could be flat lying or what's really happening -- they are counting the support money they get to help float the team that comes from NBA revenue...

PLUS MUCH of the WNBA money & revenue comes from joint agreements, sponsorships, etc... that the WNBA simply would NEVER have were it not for the NBA

They only get their games on TV (though it doesn't make them any money) because of their deals through the MEN'S league, the NBA!!
BTW -- in a cost-saving measure, the comissioner, Donna Orender reduced roster size from 13 to 11 a year ago.

TV viewership, despite being televised nationally on ESPN, is abysmal! Only a couple hundred thousand TVs in the entire world tune in to the WNBA.

Here's where I find so much about the WNBA hypocritical...
The whole women's libber movement and all of modern women's thinking is all about women making it on their own...
It's all about PROVING that the women don't need the men to carry them, to support them, to help them every step along the way..

It's all about the women showing that they can MAKE IT ON THEIR OWN, and that women are as good and as capable as men in every endeavor...

Then, when it is obvious that the women's game is NOT going to be capable of surviving on it's own, that it is either not good enough nor appealing enough to ever float itself...
Then those same hypocritical women turn to the men and demand to be supported...
WHAT BLATANT HYPOCRISY!!

BUT even one step further...they lie about it and pretend it is NOT happening...
They pull this stunt of saying there's a team in the WNBA that IS indeed making a profit, when it is quite undoubtedly NOT true, since everything from the marketing, to the promotions, to the TV contracts, etc...are ALL 100% due to the market-power of the MEN's game and the NBA...

Were the women not riding in on the coattails and receiving the "welfare check" from the NBA, the entire league would fold in a heartbeat!

But there's even one more laughable phenomenon...
there are actually women who decry that the WNBA players don't get the big salaries the men do!!!

You simply have to read this column -- it will truly crack you up as this woman tries to make the point that since the women are as sincere and work as hard and sweat just as much as the men, then they should get the same salary!
