Carlton Fay was robbed, news on POB, IU hurting and playing dirty, and lots of other interesting items..

Carlton Fay was absolutely robbed...

Kudos to Kyle Weems who had two good games last week and was named MVC Player of the Week...I am happy for him but seriously...what the hey...how can they not give the award to SIU's Carlton Fay?

Kyle Weems had a good week and in 3 games averaged 14 ppg for Missouri State, while Carlton Fay had games of 19 points, 7pts with 8 rebs, and 33 pts (average of 20 ppg!!)
I think CFay was robbed...no two ways about it...if you're going to give a Player of the Week award then stop using other criteria such as whether the team won all their games!

BTW -- did you see this??
Patrick O'Bryant is back from China and is now going to be assigned to a D-League team...

Minnesota's Trevor Mbakwe, their best player, is back in trouble...and this episode is going to prove how desperate Tubby Smith is...as everyone knows he NEEDS Mbakwe if he's going to contend in the Big Ten.
http://is.gd/kz2J4

Mbakwe violated a legal restraining order..now arrested and in jail......
but the local press says that's not something for the team to punish him for..
They want to just forget the whole thing....
I wonder if the press in Peoria would forget the whole thing or promote the idea we should just ignore this whole thing?

More Big Ten news...
Dirty play by Indiana's Derek Elston on Northwestern's Alex Marcotullio is a big topic...
Watch for yourself but I am convinced it is a dirty, intentional trip of an unsuspecting player that Elston was not even guarding -- and it was well away from the play while the ball was still in the backcourt.

The refs were generous in calling it just an intentional foul and not ejecting or suspending Elston..
http://is.gd/kz3tx
http://is.gd/kz3BU

Even the writers for the IU Hoosiers are calling Elston a liar and agreeing it was a cheap, intentional foul..and that Crean ought to suspend Elston.
http://is.gd/kz3IN

What's worse is that coach Tom Crean is defending Elston and says he believes Elston's line that it was not on purpose -- so there'll be NO further discipline...

By the way -- here's where Derek Elston learned his tricky footwork...note the dance moves...
http://is.gd/kz3So

Indiana is bad this year -- and I cannot possibly see how most gurus and prognosticators did not see this...many claiming this would be a goo dyear for IU.
Most had IU as a middle of the pack Big Ten team this year and a shot at an NCAA bid but most certainly NIT.
But they are bad....really bad...their only wins are against horrible 300+ RPI cupcakes on their home floor.
They are 0-4 in the Big Ten but here's the worst part...
they have already played the easiest part of their conference schedule.

BUT -- of their 14 remaining Big Ten games, NINE of them are against the top 6 teams in the league, so it doesn't look promising.

Iowa's Marcus Paige verbals to UNC -- following Harrison Barnes..
http://is.gd/kz39C

Illinois was after him and really wanted him..

Now the other rapist at Saint Louis is re-admitted so he can play basketball for Rick Majerus..
...so both Kwamain Mitchell and Willie Reed are back and look to play again for the Billikens.
EVEN more proof.. that discipline is totally lacking when it comes to certain coaches and their desperate need for talent..

Want even more evidence?? After a close game where Kansas won in OT at home vs. Michigan -- Bill Self is a little panicked and has now reinstated Mario Little who had been suspended for his arrest on multiple crime charges..
http://is.gd/kz4uf

Did you see this?? I am shocked it didn't get more exposure....
It is an amazingly bigoted and racist sounding statement from Memphis head coach Josh Pastner..

"The kind of student athletes we have, the more
they have to think, they are going to be slower on
their feet. I like to keep things simple and not
overcomplicate things."

http://is.gd/kz4GH

In other words...he's saying they are great athletes but they are stupid and if they actually have to use their brains or think, then they become terrible players.

BTW -- Bruce Pearl is still working without a contract and may yet be canned...
http://is.gd/kz4TG

Of course Bruce is suffering sooo bad during his suspension...

ISU's Kenyon Smith might still redshirt according to the tone of this ppiece...
and in the last game vs. SIU Austin Hill got a well deserved Technical Foul that some Redbird fans this was unfair....
but as badly as sophomore Justin Clark is playing and shooting...
it's too late to redshirt

Here's a story about a UConn player who has a bad game then tweets that he doesn't want to be at UConn...
Does this guy NOT KNOW his coach will soon hear about this ???
http://is.gd/kz5Lq

Bill Cole is the subject of this really nice, long article...he's quite a competitor and I am glad he's finally getting his chance and some recognition...
http://is.gd/kz61a

Here are a few clips...and there's also a little slam against SIU...
"It's no secret that Bill Cole has his doubters... It's been that way since he committed to Bruce Weber in December of 2005..

There have not been many Illinois players who have worked as hard as Cole during a four year career and yet, he doesn't seem to get the credit that he deserves from some stubborn members of Illini nation.

You can't say enough for a player who is willing to get his knees dirty these days. It seems that some of the grit is gone from the game and now we are trending towards finesse basketball. If you watch the NBA these days, how many guys are diving after loose balls? It's not as bad in college but you wonder where some of that competitive nature has gone."

And it does make a difference. Look at SIU's vaunted 2008 recruiting class which Chris Lowery, at the time, dubbed the best in Saluki history. Search for any one of the four members of the former ESPN top 25 class and you won't find a single name on the SIU roster due to transfers and dismissals.
"They weren't willing to do the work. That program, like ours, demands effort on both ends of the floor and sometimes players just don't buy into that type of system."

But Bill Cole bought in.

"I'll do whatever the coaches ask of me."

Finally a testament to how really jerkish fans can be ..
we all know Wichita State is the best team in the Valley getting votes for Top 25...every fan should be happy, right??
Nope..a bunch are grumbling about how badly he coached the end of the game vs. Missouri State and caused their loss..

What a bunch of ungrateful fans!!

The ACC is bad...
worse than they've been in a generation!

The ACC is being buoyed by a couple teams
(Duke RPI 5, UNC RPI 21..) but SIX of the ACC members have RPI's well over 100, and seven have horrible SOS's of well over 100-200's!!

Even a mid-major conference, the Mountain West ranks above the ACC in conference RPI!
http://is.gd/kz7ka

but never fear...they'll still get 6 or 7 bids come tourney time....

Non-sports...
just something for you to look up if interested...

Have you noticed how often "experts" use the carbon dating methods and claim the method is accurate and precise and valid?
But have you also ever noted how they never speak of using the technique for fossils and rocks...?
They claim the half-life of carbon-14 is too short relatively to be useful for long time periods...of course pre-supposing they're talking about millions of years..

But here's what you won't generally hear...
That if you DO use the carbon-14 technique on fossils, rocks, or even diamonds...all of which they claim are not only millions of years old, but even HUNDREDS of millions of years old...the results are quite amazing..
What you find is that all those things that should NOT have any carbon 14 left in them still do and thus date to only 60-70,000 years ago!
But how can that be?? They sometimes propose contamination but if you cut a diamond then how could any contamination get into the middle of a freshly cut diamond -- yet they still test as 60,000 years old!
So the "experts" choose to simply NOT talk about it and claim therefore, since we already know those items are older than 60,000 then we will presume there's an unknown phenomenon at play and so we simply won't ever cite ages on rocks, fossils, etc...via carbon dating...
in other words...just ignore it and hope nobody notices. Hmm...more great science at work!!
