Some good basketball news....

I am ready for some good Bradley basketball news...and I suspect there's some coming right around the corner -- so get ready...
but I will start the ball rolling.........

New BU head coach was spotted having dinner with the coaching staff of one of the best and most powerful local high schools....and one of that school's assistant's was quoted afterwards saying...
"Had dinner last night with geno ford....class
act...gonna change things around at bradley "

This is GOOD and VERY Good....Geno getting to know the coaches that have the best talent locally. More to come on this topic...........

BTW -- there's a little report out there that ISU coach Tim Jankovich was seen talking and possibly interviewing at Kansas State University -- with the possibility that one of their assistant spots might open up soon...or that even the head coach may make a move with the Miami opening available....you gotta wonder....
BUT -- wouldn't that be a HUGE slam at ISU if their coach was looking to move from a head coaching spot o an assistant spot??
Indiana State's head coach just did that -- leaving InSU to go be assistant to Dana at Oregon.

Now here's a clear and blatant violation as some Kansas fan tweets directly to juco player Stan Simpson to come to Kansas....someone tell this to NCAA and get those cheaters what they deserve!
"Stan_Simpson Call Coach Self and commit to Kansas.. That should fire things up!!"

Congrats to ex-Bradley Brave Eddie Matthews coming off a great year as head coach at Peoria Notre Dame. he was just hired as new head coach at Limestone HS.

Previous Limestone head coach Dan Sparrow is stepping down to devote more time to his family and his children's youth sports activities.
I have met and talked with Dan numerous times as our children have played on the same teams.....and I have a few things to say and clear up.
There has been some bad press and Dan was basically given the blame when Limestone had troubles with two basketball players who were deemed ineligible.

But they were ineligible only due to administrative issues...not having the right paperwork filed when they transferred from other schools.
But this was NOT Dan's job! He is the basketball coach...and the school's administrators, the athletic director, and the academic coordinators are responsible for the paperwork, so Dan was unfairly blamed. He was also blamed as if he was bending rules when the kids transferred. But cut me some slack -- kids at Peoria high schools transfer all the time. If Dan is to blame then what coach in what sport at what Peoria high school isn't likewise to blame?

Over the years there's been plenty more kids transferring to Richwoods, Manual, & Central than to Limestone so just connect the dots....if there's cheating going on it's everywhere and a whole lot some places than others.

I have related this story before so I will only highlight it...
I have coached some summer basketball with my kids over the years and TWICE kids I have been coaching were called blatantly on the phone -- with no effort whatsoever to hide the purpose -- and coaches from an area school said plainly he was calling to persuade the kid to change schools! One was a head basketball coach at a top MidState school, and the other was also at a top Midstate school but was a coach for a sport other than basketball but BOTH were promising STARTING positions if the kid would transfer. I have the details and I am certain of the facts and there is no doubt that this was commonplace and going on a lot. The coaches made no effort top even hide what hey were doing nor explain it...it was apparently being done all the time.

So I think Dan Sparrow is a good guy -- a guy who has benefited Bradley by his support and development of Donivine Stewart...so thanks to Coach Dan and good luck...

Here's just one funny tweet quote I saw....from the BYU football coach...
"LaVell Edwards, BYU football coach and one of 14 children: "They can't fire me because my family buys too many tickets."

Two Springfield area coaches are out...and stepping down with unusual circumstances...

Springfield Calvary head coach Jim Egan is gone after just two years but he won 29 and 26 games in his two years there -- so you gotta wonder what's up!! But if you look for the articles, remember that the Springfield newspaper is linked to the PJS and will charge you for viewing their pages.

Rochester just canned BOTH their boys and girls basketball coaches!
