Just like clockwork - ISU doing everything it can to lure John Wilkins
After 30 years of ignoring Jeff Wilkins, and never recognizing him as an all time great at ISU (he was their 2nd best player ever), and after decades of ignoring his accomplishments, never honoring him the way they should...
they have finally come to their senses...........and guess why?? Of course they are being forced to come up with something to impress the Wilkinses in an effort to stay even in the recruiting battle for John Wilkins!
I just got an e mail from a guy who is well connected at ISU and he tells me that this past weekend while John Wilkins was on his recruiting visit to ISU, they revealed to him plans to "RETIRE" Jeff Wilkins' jersey...
In fact, they have gone one step further in a somewhat disingenuous display and announced at their team banquet yesterday that Jeff's jersey is already hanging in Redbird Arena and they proudly used it to display their efforts at making John Wilkins their next star.
They are pulling out the stops and coming up with a few schmooze moves right out of the sleaze playbook to try to land Wilkins.
If Wilkins commits...the carrott at the end of the stick is that they will have a fine ceremony and honor Jeff, retire the jersey, and probably name a concession stand or a lockerroom for him (since the court's naming is already taken).
Purportedly this will all take place at a game next year IF JW is there....wonder what'll happen if he comes to BU??
it's almost like the ISU PR people and Jank are reading our boards and trying to stay one step ahead...yet are actually several steps behind in reality!!
Personally - I actually predicted this would happen - it's all a game of catch-up as fast as they can to try to impress Wilkins....and I think the Wilkinses are actually using their interest in ISU as a tool to finally get Jeff the recognition he should have..
Good for both sides...Jeff should be recognized & ISU is getting a little benefit from doing so...
But I think Jeff Wilkins can see that this is all for a purpose and if it was really genuine then why did it wait until his son was being recruited by ISU?
You gotta wonder if the jersey will come down should John select Bradley !! LOL!!!
In next year's MVC/MWC Challenge, Bradley is getting Utah...on December 4, 2010 AT Carver Arena in Peoria.
ISU is going to get UNLV on December 1. Here are the rest of the pairings and the story...

One kid that's been mentioned on BradleyFans, Cedric Jenkins - high scoring teammate of Eddren McCain in Louisiana - finally commits, to Southern Mississippi...and there's a little mention of Eddren in this article...

Tough break for Keno Davis at Providence...and Lacy was at one time getting some recruiting interest from Bradley.

Hopefully some really great news for Bradley starting tomorrow in the LOI signing period!!
