Some Recruiting Notes and a really stupid decision by someone at U of I

A couple good premium articles talk a bit about some kids from our area...

"For Meanstreets, Phillip Greene did a nice job making shots and Jamari Traylor battled in the paint. The kid is a warrior inside. The Wolves once again got a team effort, as Abrams, Sobolewski, Wisconsin commit Frank Kaminsky, Wil Sullivan, Jacob Williams and Joe Crisman did work on both ends as the Wolves pulled away late.

Bobo (Drummond) is sometimes overlooked by the state and national scouts, but for the Wolves 16u squad. Drummond is a key component in their success. He isn't flashy and he doesn't score a ton of point in the halfcourt, but he defends and he handles the ball. On this day it was his defense that stood out against the Spiece Hoosier Hoops squad. Drummond got into passing lanes and forced turnovers all game long, then finished well on the break.

Fellow backcourt mate Keke Stokes (Manual) added some pressure of his own and big men Brock Benson and Jacoby Roddy (Manual) battled in the paint for the Wolves as they got a 10 point win. Roddy and Stokes both boast Southern Illinois offers now.

Jamari Traylor has mostly mid majors tracking him, but Illinois also likes him a bit. The question will be if he can make the grades? He's just so strong and athletic from that four spot.

Mike Mullins had some great quotes in our post game talk, but two stood out for me. Although I have always been a David Sobolewski fan, and I love him at the Missouri Valley level, Mullins told me, "He's could end up in the Big Ten."

(We) watched Peoria's Andrew Jordan a bit in his game against the Southwest Illinois Jets, and Jordan looked like a different player. He hit numerous mid range jumpers and got out in transition as well. Although he may not be the player everyone had hoped he would be 3 years ago, Jordan is really growing as a player."

Also.........from another article...
"Chris Harrison-Docks has scholarship offers from Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Utah, Bradley, Western Kentucky and Akron.

Remy Abell has scholarship offers from Wright State, Seton Hall, Ohio, Akron, IUPUI, Morehead State and Marshall. He also mentioned Bradley, Murray State, Pittsburgh, Dayton, Butler, St. Bonaventure, WKU, Xavier and Louisville."

Mitch McGary, a big kid from Chesterton, IN, that BU was linked to at one time, is going to Brewster Academy to get his grades up..and will reclassify as Class of 2012...which is a polite way of saying he's being held back...

Despite two solid confirmations that Tracy Dildy has finally been named head coach at Chicago State, there has been NO media report of this at all!! NONE - it's as if the press doesn't know and doesn't care!!

Even Tracy Dildy's agent is announcing it...

Lastly, in the most astoundingly stupid act of political correctness every gone awry....the University of Illinois has fired long time Religion professor, catholic Ken Howell, simply for doing what he was hired to do, teach the various religions.
In this case, he simply stated the Catholic Church's position on homosexuality, and someone considered it hate speech so Howell was fired.

This is astounding on several levels...
-first the guy was just doing what he was expected to do
-second, this action will so enrage an enormous segment of the population that U of I will regret it severely
-third, isn't open-mindedness exactly what they preach - so why is this guy's opinion hate speech?
-last - the wave of reaction is already starting even though NO major news organization is even touching this story...they know what a time bomb this will be...
but Fox is reporting it...
