Some recruiting tidbits and other college basketball stories

Yuba College is having a great year even after they lost almost everyone from last season and didn't expect much this year...
Last week they won their 20th game to go 20-4 and 11-1 in their conference...
head coach Doug Cornelius has really done a great job this season...
http://www.appeal-democrat.com/sports/points-91420-yuba-nine.html

Yuba has a couple kids that BU is keeping an eye on...

But --
beyond basketball.....there's controversy at Yuba..as eveyone else is being asked to put up with hard times economically in California and pay raises across the state are being cancelled....and some are even being asked to take pay cuts....

BUT the top dog, the Chancellor of Yuba College, a lady named Nikki Harrington, was already making $220,000 - one of the highest junior college salaries in the universe..
but she was just awarded with a $30,000 pay raise!! (some think thisis pretty fishy!)
http://www.appeal-democrat.com/news/college-91528-community-nickolson.html

However the uproar and controversy forced the Yuba Trustees to rescind the pay raise!
...on top of that the pay raise apparently took place behind closed doors...violating the
"state open-meeting law known as the Brown Act"
BTW - Yuba is working to become a full four-year college, and not just a 2-year juco.

SIU lost at home to UNI Saturday, 55-52...
The game was close enough that obviously any one play might have been the one that cost SIU a chance at victory...and there was one such play that didn't get a lot of mention...
Justin Bocot, who had 10 points, scored two of them on a dunk but hung onto the rim putting quite a little bit of mustard onto the slam.
The dunk put SIU up by seven points with just 6 minutes to go in the game...and it ended the Salukis' momentum and seemed to hand the "mo" to UNI.
The ensuing FTs and then a little run by UNI off the momentum the "T gave the Panthers, cut the Saluki lead from 7 points to just 3 points in under 20 seconds...
a couple minutes later, UNI tied the game, then went on to win...

So - was the technical costly???.....some fans sure think so...
But here's yet another stat for those who would like to see Anthony Booker play more..
Booker, in 20 minutes Saturday, had zero points on 0-4, 2 rebounds, 5 fouls, and even missed a 3-pointer (he's a 16% 3pt shooter this year and 12% over his career 2-17)

When BU clobbered Evansville Saturday - it caused a barrage of emotion rarely seen on the otherwise quiet Evansville message board...
Here are just a few comments...
"It is hard to believe how much more athletic Bradley is at every position when compared to the Aces"
"Simmons needs to go. Under manned, no true depth, poor shooting, poor man-to-man defenders....all due to recruiting and defections from the program."
"Go check other members of the MVC message boards. Look at their game threads. Just another thing UE has lost..."passion""

and here's the most amazing comment-- from an Evansville fan saying he wonders why Evansville still had their starters in PADDING their stats in garbage time..
"colt really had a poor shooting game 2-14 6 points in the first 36 min he scored 11 in the last 4 min when we were down 25 and they had their subs in. I know don;'t tell me he did alot of other thing which you guys see is why he plays 36 min. why do we have starters in down 25 with 4 min too go and start pressing other than too pad their stats? I still don't understand what is going on here"

and...
"it definitely looks like there is a pattern to Ryan scoring most of his points after the games have already been decided"
"..I blame marty for playing him so much. He is shooting about 30% and the and all we do on offense is set picks for him. I say give someone else a chance. WOW I DON"T GET WHAT IS GOING ON HERE......"

And in case you ned this to see that whiney, ever-bitching fans exist everywhere...then the one program it seems everyone says we should emulate continues to have a never-ending stream of dissatisfied fans....
Didn't someone write a column recently saying we aren't and never will be as good as Creighton and that their's is a program we should aim to be like??

Iowa State head coach Greg McDermott knows his star Craig Brackins will be gone after this season ..

Iowa fans have a little UNI-envy...
"How is it that tiny little Mo. Valley UNI, located in hicksville, can sport a top 25 basketball team with enough depth to have 9 guys on the roster who play 10 minutes or more...yet the U of Iowa, one of the top college basketball programs in the country over the past 50 years has so little depth on its squad that it's forced to play significant minutes to walk-ons like John Lickliter"
http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=8&f=1377&t=5585607

One of Iowa's top high schoolers and a prior Hawkeye recruiting target, Chanse Creekmur, just verballed to Arizona State, so he'll play with Hersey Hawkins' son, Corey, and Dodie's brother Brandon Dunson.

BTW-- many Illinois fans are saying who cares if eggheads like Dickie Vitale are criticizing their rushing the court this weekend...
here's why -- numerous top recruits were in attendance and ALL OF THEM had a great time and loved the atmosphere and had a great time out on the court after the game...so really, who gives a dang if the whole effort benefited the Illini and their recruiting efforts!!

Lastly - on a more serious tone, there's a whole lot happening on the global climate front...
And here it is...without comment, just linking you to any and all of the recent developments, and you are free to further research this info if you wish...

-Scandal #1 - first the "experts" condemn anyone who chooses to be skeptical of their data and reports
http://www.climatedepot.com/a/3308/Ignorant-Skeptics-UN-Scientist-Prof-Trenberth-says-only-poorly-informed-scientists-disagree-with-UN--Appeals-to-Authority-The-IPCC-has-spoken

But then those very same "experts" retract their same very data and reports and concede it was fraudulent and rife with errors!
This fraudulent report is the very same one those scientists criticized skeptics over!
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/article6991177.ece?token=null&offset=0&page=1

-scandal #2 : the "official" weather data for the past several years is taken from hand picked measurements and certain measurements that would have greatly negated the "warming" data have been selectively eliminated.
http://joannenova.com.au/2010/01/climategate-arrives-in-the-us/

Even when the NASA errors and fraudulent data are exposed, they go on the attack and try to hide the facts.
http://www.judicialwatch.org/news/2010/jan/judicial-watch-uncovers-nasa-documents-related-global-warming-controversy

They even try to keep recirculating the very same exposed lies as if it doesn't matter to them...
http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/jamesdelingpole/100017393/climategate-the-final-nail-in-the-coffin-of-anthropogenic-global-warming/
http://bishophill.squarespace.com/blog/2008/8/11/caspar-and-the-jesus-paper.html

-But here's why they stick with their lies and have such a great motivation to fabricate data to prove their lies...
it is because they are paid quite handsomely for it..out of taxpayer money!
http://dailycaller.com/2010/01/12/climategate-professor-michael-mann-protected-to-maximum-extent-by-penn-state-policy/

And they are even named and hired to top White House positions and paid HUGE salaries, even though their data has been exposed as fraudulent.
No wonder they keep pumping out this stuff even if it is pure lies and phony...they get Millions of $$!
http://www.nationalcenter.org/PR-Michael_Mann_Money_011410.html

and if you want to hear it directly from one of the disgraced and exposed scientists..here it is...
He admits he fabricated his data just to please the powerful political people and to put pressure on "world leaders"
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1245636/Glacier-scientists-says-knew-data-verified.html

this very same guy had won a Nobel for his fraudulent work...you think the Nobel people will ask for their prize back???
Gimme a break!
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/article7000063.ece

--the White House also hires and funnels BIG money to their allies in the press and NBC/MSNBC...
http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/173718-Immelt_Named_To_Obama_s_New_Economic_Advisory_Board.php

-more on how crooked scientists have tried for decades to alter public and governmental positions by knowingly altering data and using bad science for their ulterior motives...
they are even guilty of altering their own reports and publications to hide their fraud and lying.
http://www.nationalpost.com/news/canada/story.html?id=2465893#ixzz0dFV3z0z2
http://wattsupwiththat.com/2010/01/23/nasa-climate-page-suckered-by-ipcc-deletes-a-moved-up-glacier-melting-date-reference/
http://wattsupwiththat.com/2010/01/24/the-purge-continues/

This is a fraud of monumental proportions...akin to murdering anyone who doesn't believe the Earth is the center of the universe!!
Thankfully people are now waking up, and more than half the public now disbelieves the counterfeit warming scientists...
http://bigjournalism.com/pcourrielche/2010/01/08/peer-to-peer-review-how-climategate-marks-the-maturing-of-a-new-science-movement-part-i/#more-2358

You can't fool them all the time, not with this fraudulent stuff...
