BU tidbits

I found out something pretty spectacular this morning....that all of the Bradley games played down in Brazil were videotaped and of course the team uses those tapes for teaching and coaching the players once the practices start this season on Oct. 16.
HOWEVER, presently Dave Snell has all those tapes and is working on putting together a great video presentation for the preseason Gala and Auction!
If there wasn't already enough reason for me to go, then this woulda clinched it!
I can't wait to see the video of the Brazil games!

The Gala and Auction is October 17, so get your tickets! 5:30PM on Oct. 17 at the Par-a-dice.

At the Coffee with the Coaches this morning, baseball coach Elvis Dominguez cited this fact...
this season was the 27th consecutive season that there has been at least ONE ex-Bradley University baseball player playing in the MAJOR LEAGUES. we're not talking the minors, we are talking the Major Leagues! This puts Bradley up among the elite college baseball programs nationally! And, as long as Brian Shouse's arm holds out, and teams always need a specialist to get the lefties out, then BU should reach the 30-year point!!

I heard that all the basketball players are healthy, I talked with someone who had just viewed a couple workouts and scrimmages, and I am optimistic!
The same comments keep coming up from several different sources about the degree of improvement, the increased muscle mass and physical bulk of some of the players, and the deadeye shooting of a few players, including Andrew Warren and Milos Knezevic.

I am pretty surprised at the relatively small turnout at the Coffee this morning. It was the single best opportunity I have seen in years to have time, one-on-one with any of the BU coaches you wanted to talk to and get all your questions answered.
The coaches sat at the tables, everyone had a cup of coffee and you could freely ask any question you wanted.
Virnette House-Browning and Dave Snell were also there as was Bobby Parker in case there were any questions needing their expertise (and a few did).
There we NO representatives of the press which also surprised me, and the fans, alums, and others there felt like this was the equivalent of having the coaches over for coffee in our own living rooms.
I sat with one of our fine BU fans who I know is on the boards and he said he reads the blogs, and he also had all his questions answered.
One guy tried to start a little tough debate about jerseys being retired, and I kinda knew where he was heading....he was obviously one who thought Squeaky's should be...but the answers from the coaches and Virnette quickly headed him off and yet might have still left the door open for some other time.

Finally a few last things of rumorish nature......
I haveheard Diamond Taylor is already telling people he's going to SIU and the people on the SIU message boards seem to know something as well.
Nothing official is announced, but if it happens, then SIU will simultaneously have TWO players facing FELONY charges on their roster and getting a FULL scholarship (at the expense of the state's taxpayers!!)

now where are those people who argued SIU isn't Thug U?

But I think they still have a little way to go before catching up with all the thuggery going on at Kansas!
