BU Cheerleaders - and Some followup on 5-Star recruits

Bradley has been blessed with great cheerleader and spirit squads....
Yesterday despite the cold and rain they were out there several hours early entertaining the people at the tailgate and Fiesta...and supporting the team later at the soccer game...
I don't think they get the credit they deserve...so kudos to a great squad...
here's their web site.......

Most of the kids who get rated 5-Stars are the most talented and most are locks for stardom. But a few fall a little short...so I thought I'd list a few from the recent years who did not exceed expectations, and who even fell far short of them.

From 2004

5-Star Robert Swift, a Top 10 ranked player, could have had his pick of many colleges, but reneged on his verbal to USC and tried to go pro. He got drafted, but he's been just a little less than an impact player...he's had injuries and bounced around...but a 3 ppg, 3 rpg center isn't very marketable.

From 2005

5-Star Keith Brumbaugh first went to Oklahoma State (wow, Eddie Sutton really went after a ton of these troubled kids), had tons of trouble there, serious criminal problems and arrests, flopped around to jucos, then tried to go in the draft and nobody wanted him, even though his juco averages were astounding (35 ppg, 20 rebs!) Now he's in the NBDL.

From 2006

5-Star, Duke Crews, went to Tennessee, had discipline issues, repeated drug issues, then was booted and is now playing at a lowly D-I, Bowie State, averaging 15 ppg.

5-Star, Derrick Caracter, went to Louisville, never quite caught on to the team concept and has been booted from the team many times. He wanted to transfer elsewhere, but for the longest time -- nobody even wanted the guy...and given the type Bob Huggins and Chris Lowery take in, that's a pretty strong statement. Finally he lands at UTEP in the CUSA and we'll see how he does this year, but at UTEP, he's teaming with a bunch of other malcontents and disgruntled transfers, so the odds he even finishes out the year and slim.

5-Star, Obi Muonelo went to Oklahoma State but injury, behavior issues, and underage drinking arrests have kept him from excelling...and kept him in Coach Travis Ford's doghouse.

From 2007

5-Star Kosta Koufos went to Ohio State and some thought he was going to be the next Greg Oden...but he wasn't. He was a little overrated, and believed the hype himself, leaving Ohio State after one year and going pro, but his NBA career was a little less than stellar. In the few games he played, it was pretty clear he was too slow, so he tried taking his game to Europe. He'll end up making good $ but considering he was the next "Greg Oden", he's fallen just a bit. He's trying to make it again this year with the Utah Jazz, but he's doing quite poorly.

Here's a couple names of 2003 kids that didn't pan out like other 5-Star kids...Brian Butch, Ndubi Ebi, Brandon Bass, Sani Ibrahim

Obviously the jury is still out on most kids from 2007, 2008, and later, but there's still time for a few of them to surprisingly fizzle out.

Other Valley news....there are unconfirmed reports of ex-Wisconsin Badger freshman Diamond Taylor going to SIU.
That will put two different players on the same roster with FELONY charges pending.
Will the press label them renegades?
