Update on Will Franklin, Cellus, Ryan Boatright, and more...

The never ending saga of recruit Ryan Boatright has yet another weird chapter..

As most recall, Boatright was still in elementary school when he was being recruited by Tim Floyd at USC and he was offered and accepted a scholarship there before ever entering high school.
The he reneged and withdrew his verbal and reopened recruitment. He leaned one way then the other and was said to be tied to several schools -- DePaul, Providence, even Illinois, etc...

Then finally, in front of cameras at a big press conference last Monday with his mother at his side, he verballed to Bob Huggins and West Virginia.

But - the very next day, Ryan Boatright, the #1 best PG in Class of 2011 and #51 player overall got a surprise.
Huggins then got another verbal from Jabari Hinds, a kid out of New York who is the #26 best PG in Class of 2011...Hinds was leaning to UConn but wanted to seek somewhere else to play given that UConn may get hit with sanctions.
Apparently this didn't set well with Boatright who does not appear to want any competition for playing time...

Boatright promptly then decommits from West Virginia and reopens his recruiting...

His mother makes this statement this morning...
“He did decommit,” Ryan’s mother Tanesha said Friday night. “But we don’t have any comment right now. We are thinking about it and trying to accept it as a family.”

So now Ryan Boatright is said to be leaning to UConn....weird........

Here's a nice stat site to keep current on Marcellus Sommerville's stats...

Update on Will Franklin.......
Will Franklin has signed ...with Etoile du Sahel ...

Will played his first regular season game with his new team, and ES Sahel won 90-41 over ES Rades...
no stats avail. yet..

they just completed a quick three game tournament with ESS beating Al Kadhim of Kuwait 80-51, then beating Al Hikma of Lebanon 68-62,
but losing in the finals to Arriadh of Lebanon 71-63...again, no stats avail.

The team actually has a message board, but since the club has a football (soccer) team, almost all the discussion is about soccer..

"The Bradley men are expected to take the court at approximately 7 o'clock and
several of the players will address the crowd at the conclusion of the scrimmage."

If you ever needed evidence that even the folks in the know and the insiders believe that some schools get special treatment by the NCAA, here it is.
These are the words of Mississippi State coach Rick Stansbury...and he flatly states that EVERYBODY knows Kentucky gets special favorable treatment just because they are Kentucky.

"Stansbury..questioned whether Kentucky gets favorable treatment
because of its status as a traditional basketball power..
repeated that theme when asked about the Kanter case.

"Everybody across the landscape of college basketball
understands what that situation was," Stansbury said. "Everybody
is probably waiting to see (if) Kentucky gets something, is it because,
with Kentucky, something's maybe different than another school."
