Some news on Calipari, Bruce Pearl, and more..

Here's an example of how John Calipari treats the very players he, himself recruits......

Example: Darnell Dodson, a highly rated kid who initially committed to Pitt a few years ago, but failed to qualify, so he went to Chipola junior college.
Then in 2008 he committed to Memphis and John Calipari and even signed a LOI, then when Calipari bolted for the higher paying Kentucky job Dodson asked out at Memphis and followed Calipari there to Kentucky.
I am sure Dodson thought he'd be getting in on the ground floor and since he was a Calipari recruit long before anyone else at Kentucky was....that just maybe he'd be a key player there at Kentucky.

But, Dodson was way wrong. He got a little playing time and garbage time early in the season when Kentucky was blowing teams out by 30-40 points, but then as John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Eric Bledsoe, and others that Cal landed late began to put up good numbers, Dodson's playing time diminished.
His year end totals were -- 5 pt, 2 rebs, .5 ast, 36% shooting from the floor.
Not exactly the numbers you'd need to wow anyone but I am sure Dodson figured now that all those other guys went to the NBA, now he'd get some playing time, but as Calipari loads up with more 5-Star guys, obviously Dodson is waking up to the fact, that he's a career benchwarmer - if you get the picture...
so he even talked a little like he was going to try the NBA route himself...

But all that did was elicit a few laughs.........
So I guess Dodson then decided he'd talk about maybe leaving Kentucky and transferring....surely that would get Calipari grovelling and begging for him to keep his talents at Kentucky, right??

well..........Cal didn't seem to care, and maybe Dodson didn't get all that many nibbles either when he put out feelers, so he decided to stay at Kentucky.

But then in Las Veags this past weekend, when reporters were talking to John Calipari, he blabbed about how he didn't want Dodson and that Dodson was a "headache".
The the next morning, Calipari ignominiously announces to the world on his Facebook - of all places - ON HIS FACEBOOK!!!

So goes the world of social networking.....power broker Cal dashes kid's dream with an insulting dis on John's Facebook.
Why not just put it up in lights on the marquee in front of Rupp Arena, Cal -- why not call the kid lazy while you're at it...
What an oaf.......or is this guy calling him a "cornhole"??

Rumblings this morning of Memphis soon making the announcement that they are going to the Big East. That would leave the Big East with 17 teams in basketball - so almost assuredly some other member is gonna get booted. Rutgers, DePaul ?? who's it gonna be??

Purdue's bad karma continues.....after losing star Robbie Hummel for a year due to an ACL tear -- now one of Purdue's 2010 commitments also tears his ACL..

Ex-Missouri State Bear Blake Ahearn is tired of waiting - and isn't going to labor in the obscure NBA D-League this season...he's agreed to a deal with a top Italian team.

Yet another new rumor regarding another Bruce Pearl scandal...trying to one-up Rick Pitino?
http://www.volnation.com/forum/tennessee-vols-basketball/105603-possible-pearl-scandal.html

...And Bruce Pearl is in the middle of even another touchy issue, as he has decided to speak on behalf of and endorse a Tennessee politician running for Governor...alienating in the process, a whole lot of Tennessee fans who either believe he shouldn't be using his "STATE PAID" position to do so, or simply fans disagreeing with the politics of the guy Bruce has chosen to endorse, and feeling a little disaffection for the guy even though they want to remain Tennessee fans!

Lastly -- dodging of the question?
..is calling a professional athlete "a babe", appropriate?
and thanks to the guy who is putting this site up as a link...makes me think of selling advertising....NOT!
