Selby - Pearl

An example of hypocrisy:
On BradleyFans.com there's a discussion going about top recruit Josh Selby and his decommitting from Tennessee. There is also an article linked in which a writer says we should shed no tears about Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl losing a recruit to underhanded dealings in the recruiting world, since Pearl has been one of the lead guys doing this to other schools.
Here is that article, although it's a premium article:
http://kentucky.scout.com/a.z?s=48&p=2&c=884082&ssf=1&RequestedURL=http%3a%2f%2fkentucky.scout.com%2f2%2f884082.html

but here is the key line in that premium article:
"Pearl's recruiting tactics had come full circle over the last 24 months. While
many are privately bemoaning some programs continuing to recruit Selby after
he gave a commitment to UT, Pearl is not deserving of anyone's sympathy.
Once upon a time when a basketball prospect gave a commitment to a school
then other schools would stop recruiting that athlete, it was something of a
gentleman's unspoken agreement in the world of college basketball. That
standard no longer applies, and one of the reasons it no longer applies is
Tennessee's Bruce Pearl. .."

...then he goes on to give examples of Pearl pulling the same shenanigans, so he has nobody to blame but himself that this kind of backstabbing occurs in his profession. The discussion then moves to Bruce Pearl and his recruitment and tampering of Joah Tucker while Tucker was still under scholarship at Bradley -- a very clear NCAA violation.

One poster says this...
"absolutely, 100% did not happen .."

then when that poster was challenged with evidence that Tucker did indeed have unauthorized contact with the coaches at Wisconsin-Milwaukee while under BU scholarship, the very same poster then says...
"of course he had contact with the coaching staff at UW-M"

bingo....what hypocrisy!! One second saying the coaches at UW-M did nothing wrong, then instantly admitting they had contact with Tucker that wasn't approved by the school Tucker was under scholarship to.
That constitutes a SIGNIFICANT NCAA violation.
It is an old story, so I have no desire to drag it on and on, but only to point out the anti-BU forces are still lurking.
I might also point out that the few (and I mean very few who are still holding out) BU-bashers contain at least two of the disgruntled, ex-BU athletic department employees who are still on a vendetta to smear BU and the athletic department.
Their identities and their motives are pretty clear to all who view, but if you still don't know who I mean, then PM me on the board.

Nice news!!! Will Egolf has been cleared to play in Brazil. I suspect he will play limited minutes and be used cautiously.

The final Player Outlook is up on Bradley Examiner
http://www.examiner.com/x-7020-Bradley-Braves-Examiner~y2009m8d4-200910-Player-Outlook-Andrew-Warren

but I think Andrew Warren will do considerably better than his numbers two years ago....

I have solid confirmation that at least two of the walk ons, Ryan Phillips & Ned Goertzen, are going to Brazil, contrary to what was reported elsewhere.

Creighton got a verbal from Will Artino. While Creighton was strongly pursuing numerous 3-Star and even 4-Star kids, this kid, Artino, is way under the radar.
He is 1-Star on scout.com, 2-Stars on Rivals.
http://bradleyfans.com/vb/showthread.php?t=12799

He is from a tiny town in Iowa, and has attended two different small schools.
Some sites state him to be only 6-8, but this site also rates Artino as a top baseball prospect, with a mid-80's fastball and a lot of potential.
Could the Jays lose the kid to baseball?
http://www.pgcrosschecker.com/Articles/DisplayArticle.aspx?article=712

Oddly, the Artino family had to pursue legal process in order to get Will eligible in high school, since his transfer from being a part-time home schooled kid at Des Moines Christian to Waukee, was alleged to be purely for athletic reasons, and that's a violation of Iowa rules. In the end, the Artino's were assessed a 90-day penalty in athletic eligibility.

Illini hype is getting a little unbelievable...
the hype surrounding a bunch of completely untested freshman....now they're talking some kind of record year!

On the Indiana front...........
...obviously IU needs desperately a PG and a big man...
...so with the only two scholarships they have between now and 2012, they get verbals from David Williams and now 3-Star Austin Etherington...both are essentially similar players... SG's/wings...exactly what they already appear to have a tremendous excess of.
The IU fans are stumped..especially when Indiana is linked with numerous top, 4 and 5-Star scorers and big men!

almost certainly this means someone's going to get Creaned off the present roster to open up more rides. Time will tell.........
BTW-- in a speech last night, Tom Crean touched on the issue of his highly rated incoming recruiting class.
Unfortunately what he said was not too encouraging in regard to the only big man, Bawa Muniru, and their highest rated incoming kid, Maurice Creek.
He said... "Maurice Creek and Bawa Muniru are really close (to qualifying)"
of course it's a BCS school, so expect them to get cleared...but if not cleared by August, it really could mean trouble...

Hey-- forget the promises, here's what the experts are saying now..

Not only is the government giving out record trillions of dollars, they are going to see a record-breaking drop in revenue coming in.
